Uwagi o wpływach czeskich na rzeźbę
w Małopolsce w wieku XIV
Wliteraturze historyczno-artystycznej wielokrotnie podkreślano kluczowe znacze-
nie ziem Korony Czeskiej dla odrodzonego Królestwa Polskiego, w tym także dla
działalności fundacyjnej króla Kazimierza Wielkiego 1. Najlepiej oddają to siowa Paula
Crossleya 2:
The parallels between Bohemian and Polish court patronage are more instructive. Personal rela-
tions between Kasimir and the Emperor Charles IV had improved in the third quarter of the 14 th
century, and Bohemian influences can be traced in every branch of Lesser Poland artistic life: in the
decorative arts commissioned by the king in the 1360s and 1370s, in wall painting in Lesser Poland
during andjust after the reign of Kasimir [...] and also in architecture outside the court [...]. More-
over, the pattern of Kasimir’s patronage closely resembles the German Emperor’s.
Opinia ta stanowi przykład uproszczenia, ajej źródlem są niewątpliwie żywe w historii
sztuki tendencje nacjonalistyczne 3. W badaniach nad rzeźbą Europy Środkowej wciąż od-
czuwa się wpływ poglądów Hilde Bachmann, która w wydanej w r. 1943 książce o rzeź-
bie przed Piotrem Parlerem, forsowała pogląd o artystycznej kolonizacji obszarów wschod-
nich („grosse deutsche Riickwanderung nach dem Osten”), a w konsekwencji o znacznym
opóźnieniu „Sudetenlander” względem Rzeszy 4. Opinie te, co zrozumiałe, odcisnęły szcze-
