varied problems. He was
an intimate friend of
Lenbach the painter, for
whom he designed a resi-
dence in Munich.

born here in the year 1848,
was a leading spirit in the
nationalist movement in
German architecture, and
the great Bavarian Na-
tional Museum which was
erected here a few years
ago from his designs may
