of the 16th Century and Stands in relation to loos van Cleve and the Man-
nerists of Antwerp. Then come the Holy Family in Kremsmünster, and the
Madonna in Viennese private property; these already show the influence of
Mabuse. The next period of Vellert’s style is represented by an Adoration
of the Shepherds in Lille, in which Romanism is revealed by a stronger
tendency to wards motion. The latest of these paintings is the Fall of Man
in the possession of art-dealers.
The master’s final style is, however, best represented by his engraving of
the Deluge, dated 1544, which Stands on a level of style with Orley’s latter
large compositions, the designs for the tapestries of the Abraham series.
