ofthe Trinity Cathedral into three exterior bays surmounted by zakamary do not correspond
to the interior segmentation. In earlier medieval architecture, this correspondence would
have been obligatory; but by the second half of the 17th century, developments in vaulting
and masonry techniques permitted a divergence between exterior and interior segmentation
that is particularly noticeable in churches of the Yaroslavl, Kostroma, and Vologda regions.
