DEL TEPIDARIO
In luogo di produrre più stampe, a
fine di dare a conoscere gli ornamenti e
modinature delle sezioni dello spogliatojo
e del frigidaro del bagno degli uomini,
nonché la sezione per lungo del calida-
rio e stufa delle terme del suddetto,
vengono riportate a bulino soltanto al-
cune parti delle enunciate località, sic-
come tanti architettonici frammenti. E
pel primo vedesi a dritta la cornice ed
ornato della volta della stufa, nel mezzo
l’archivolto dello spogliatojo, nell’ op-
posto lato la cornicee la decorazione del
prefato locale -, sotto e a dritta la cornice
del frigidario, alla quale succede l’im-
posta ed archivolto della nicchia di tal
luogo, ed indi in due distinte parti altri
membri della cornice e decorazione della
volta del sunnominato spogliatojo ; ecco
quanto era d’uopo accennare.
DE SALLE DE THERMES.
Au lieu de donner un plus grand
nombre de gravures relatives aux orne-
ments et moulures du cabinet où les bai-
gneurs se déshabillaient, et de la salle
(frigidarium) où ils se rafraîchiss'aient
en sortant du bain, de même aussi que
la coupe en long du calidarium et de
l’étuve des Thermes, nous nous conten-
tons d’en présenter les parties détachées
et quelques fragments d’architecture.
Dans le premier dessin, à droite, on
voit la corniche et l’ornement de la
voûte de l’étuve, au milieu de l’archi-
volte du cabinet où l’on se déshabillait.
Au côté opposé, la corniche et les décors
du même endroit, au-dessous et à droite
c’est la corniche du frigidarium, à la-
quelle succèdent l’imposte et l’archivolte
de la niche. Dans les deux autres parties
séparées, on voit des fragments de la
corniche et de la décoration de la voûte
du cabinet.
OF THE THERMÆ.
Instead of giving several engravings
of the ornaments and mouldings of the
cabinet where the bathers undressed,
the Frigidarium or apartment where
they refreshed themselves on coming
out of the baths, and the Calidarium or
stoves of the thermae, we shall limit our-
selves to presenting detached pieces;
and fragments of architecture.
In the first to the right we observe the
cornice and ornaments of the vault of
the stove ; in the middle the archivault
of the cabinet or dressing room, on the
opposite side the cornice and decorations
of the same, below, to the right, the cor-
nice of the Frigidarium to which suc-
ceeds the impost and the archivault of
the niche.
In the two other parts separated we
see the fragments of the cornice and the
decorations of the vault of the cabinet.
This explanation will suffice to give
an idea of the architecture of the hot
baths.
