IRENA KOSSOWSKA

of expression is accompanied by a strengthening of
compositional rhythms in the artist's works. The
consistant repetitiveness of geometrie patterns,
uniformly laid out on the entire canvas, is not in the least
wearisione; on the contrary, it constantly provokes new
optical reactions. The surfaces covered with a thick
network of patterns are enhanced by contrasting colour
clashes; the pulsating hues condition the continuous
metamorphosis of forms. The artist keenly investigates

the possibilities of modulating colour by carrying out a
many-sided analysis of the colour spectrum.
Stańczak is one of only a smali number of Op-Art
artists who through the application of a rigorous techni-
que achieved their own specific expression, a harmonio-
us combining of rational reflexion with spontaneous
feeling and refined aestheticism with poetic inspiration
in their works. The aim of liis artistic work is to create
an art of universal significance.
