rosette occurs on the base of a bowl from
Fustat.28 The decoration on the third frag-
ment finds undoubtedly the best parallels in
bowls from the early 11th century ship-
wreck of Serge Limani [Fig. 4:3].29 This
time, the main motif, a six-pointed star, is
surrounded by oval dimples and most pro-
bably four multi-petalled flower rosettes.
