Kari Wurbs' works are of inestimabie
vaiue for iovers of oid Prague, and
not least so on account of their
good technicai quaiities. His oid
peopie and houses wearacare-worn,
melancholy appearance, for the re-
voiution of '48 and the horrors of
the war of '66 left their impress on
man and his surroundings. Among
the men of mark Josef Mane^, son
and pupil of Anton Manes, the
head of the weH-known famiiy of
painters, stands in the forefront.
The painters of the Czech Secession

tempiates the portraiture of
Svabinsky, one of the smaii band
of Bohemian artists whose reputation
