FnoM A. C. McClurg & Co. comes a new revised
and enlarged edition of Rosa Belie Holt's "Rugs,
Oriental and Occidental, Antique and Modern."
The revision is intended to supply the most recent
information obtained by investigation throughout
the United States, by later study in Europe and by
personal observation in the Orient. Among the
thirty-four iiiustrations are tweive plates in colors
upon which eiaborate care has been used to insure
accuracy in the tints of compiicated patterns. The
frontispiece,reproducing an antiqueTabriz silk rug
representing the individuai kneeiing squares on
the floor of a mosque, is an unusual exampie of
color printing.

ery, sculpture in stone, wood and ivory, iniay,
mosaic and the iiiumination of books. The voi-
ume is attractively made, with colored frontispiece
and decorative cover design. (L. C. Page & Co.,
Boston.)
TwENTY-six Whistler etchings are reproduced
in the handsome pubiication which the Century
Company has given Otto H. Bacher's entertaining
reminiscences, "Whistler in Venice." Many of
the iilustrations are from states of the plates not
before reproduced. There are also three Whistler
lithographs and Ave Whistler letters, together with
thirteen etchings and photographs by Mr. Bacher.
This contribution to Whistleriana has its basis in
the friendship that existed between author and sub-
ject and will be a pleasure to the admirers of both
artists and important to students of Whistler's art
and life.
ALGERiA and Tunis are laid under tribute by
that genial traveler, Francis Miltoun, in his latest
book, called " In the Land of Mosques and Mina-
rets." (L. C. Page & Co.) The illustrations, as in
previous attractive volumes by these same hands,
are from drawings and paintings by Blanche Mc-
Manus.
JuLES GuERiN's illustrations for Robert Hich-
ens's articles on "Egypt and Its Monuments,"
which have attracted attention in the

bold, assured
color, help to make
