Diese Sammlung enthält die nach alten authen-
tischen Bildern meist von G. Trababallesi ge-
zeichneten und von F. Allegrini gestochenen Portraits
berühmter Toskaner, darunter natürlich viele hervor-
ragende Maler, Bildhauer und Architekten.

Dr. Robert Chambers said of this work: — “It forms a com-
plete record of the pub.lic characters of every grade and kind,
including many distinguished strangers, who made a figure in Edin-
burgh for nearly half-a-century“. No city in the Empire can boast
of so curious a chronicle as this extraordinary series of engravings
represent. The copperplates were destroyed, so no further edition
of this book is possible.

mente, e sono bellissime prove; l’ultimo del Maratti e d’altra
