which ordinarily are outside of the finan-
cial ränge of the individually planned
schoolbuilding, for instance a heating of low
temperature panelradiation ect.

The project matured during the last five years and pu-
blished by its author 1929 in: „Ameria, new building in the
world, Anton Scholl and Co. Publisher Vienna." — con-
veys the idea ofa ringplanschool structurally
designed for s t e e I f a b r i c a t i o n in elabo-
rate unitis for easy and speedy assembling on the
spot of erection.

The classrooms devoted in Singles and pairs to a certain
subject of Instruction — no homeciassrooms — c o n t a i n
the pertaining decentralized portions of
the collections of instructive material
and the library in an impressive visible arrange-
ment. Adjoining compartments hold decentralized wash-
rocms and toilets for both sexes.

These classrooms endowed with a daylight influx from
above are independent of the oldfashioned fixed sitting-
arrangement and designed for a free grouping of
the pupils around the teacher. The position for wirting
and reading can be freely chosen by any one person in
the room and the greatest variety of grouping is thus
secured.

Arranged in two semicircles the one story classroom-
wings Surround an interior playcourt with a swimmingpool
in front of the Gymnasium and on the outside open into
individual classroom patios separated by radial hedges.
Patios and classrooms connect through upfolding glass-
doors.

The entrancebuilding reached under roof from the ga-

rages of the schoolbusses is principally devoted to the
administration of the school. It contains in the frontal
part of the groundfloor the administration office with wai-
tingroom and adjoining small conversation rooms for the
contact between parents and teachers. In the upper story
are placed the principals office, teachers restrooms and
teachers lunchroom served by a dumbwaiter from the
trainingkitchen below. This kitchen equipped in all details
for its instructive purpose will also give meals to the pu-
pils and a spacious hall with adjoining washrooms is laid
in close contact with the Service pantry of the school-
kitchen in the groundfloor: the storage in the basement is
reached by a delivery driveway crossing under the ad-
ministration building.

Another driveway leads to the rear of the before men-
tioned gymnasium and auditoriumbuilding, which in its
groundfloor area houses the manuel training and locker-
rooms.

The roofdecks of the buildinggroup are adorned with
sprinkled flowercontainers to intensify the out of door
character of the institution. A runningtrack circles on the
classroom roof level and connects with the sunbath on
the balcony of the gymnasiumbuilding, the glazing of
which is permeable for the vital ultraviolet radiation and
used during days of uncomfortable wind attack.

The administration of this proposed school concerns
also the educational home center for mixed age groups
and the kindergarten classes which the project „Rush City
Reformed" provides for the housingblocks of the residen-
tial area tributuary to the district school; its supervision is
extended over these filial activities of elementary educa-
tion and child occupation.
