MÜNCHEN Hm 11. Mai begann bei dem
Numismatiker Dr. Jakob Hirfch, Hrcisftr. 17,
unter regfter Beteiligung von Mufeen, Sammlern,
und Händlern, die Verweigerung Griechifcher
und Römifcher Münzen aus dem Befiße des
Rev.Percy Whyteleafe und eines bekannten
englifchen Gelehrten. Die Intereffenten
waren gekommen u. a. aus Philadelphia (U. S. H.),
London, Paris, Mailand, Wien, Berlin, Cöln,
Düffeldorf, Leipzig, Frankfurt a. M., Karlsruhe
ufw., dazu noch eine Hnzahl Teilnehmer von

München felbft. Den höchften Preis des Tages
brachte die allfeits mit größter Spannung er-
wartete Nr. 348 (Gela, Kopf des Flußgottes
Ämenanos im Dreiviertelprofil nach rechts und
Quadriga im Schritt n. r.), welche auf befonderen
Wunfch eines Parifer Herrn zum Äufwurf kam.
Sie erzielte den refpektablen Preis von 10025 M.
(ohne Äufgeld). Das zweite Prachtftück von
Gela Nr. 349 (Flußgott Ämenanos als Stier mit
Menfchenkopf und Quadriga 1. fprengend) brachte
4800 M. (ohne Äufgeld); der nächft höchfte Preis
wurde mit 4250 M. notiert für die Nr. 20 (Popu-
lonia, Kopf der Äthena Parthenos von vorn
und Stern mit Mondfichel). Weiter erzielten
hohe Preife Nr. 20 (Populonia, Gorgoneion und
Mondfichel mit Dreizack) 1625 M., Nr. 52 (Cumae,
Kopf der Nymphe und Miesmufchel) 1500 M.,
Nr. 55 (Cumea, weiblicher Kopf und menfchen-
köpfiger Stier) 3000 M., Nr. 93 (Tarentum, Gold-
ftater mit Zeuskopf und Ädler) 1725 M., Nr 100
(Tarentum, archaifcher Kopf der Nymphe Satyra
undTaras auf dem Delphin reitend) 1675 M., von
Metapontum Nr. 173 (Ähre und Äpollon mit
großem Lorbeerzweig), Nr. 177 u. 178 (weiblicher
